Symptom
After a macOS update (e.g., 26.5.1), the Strawberry Client fails to start and reports that it could not get init values from the server, even though it worked before the update.
Cause
Strawberry Client reaches the server over your Local Network. macOS updates can leave this permission in a broken state: the toggle still appears ON in System Settings, but macOS silently blocks the connection. This is a known macOS issue, not a client misconfiguration.
Fix – toggle Local Network access off and on again
- Open System Settings.
- Go to
Privacy & Security→Local Network. - Find Strawberry Client in the list (it may be listed as pamclient).
- Turn the toggle OFF.
- Turn the toggle back ON.
- Quit and relaunch Strawberry Client.
The client should now connect normally. Re-check this after any future macOS update if the same symptom appears.
