Below are the steps to allow Strawberry to run on a fresh install of macOS 26.1 (Tahoe). The steps should be similar for subsequent macOS releases.
Prerequisites
- The steps below are valid with the Strawberry client 7.0.6 or later.
- Important:
Installation
1. Visit the Strawberry product download page and download the latest client for your Strawberry server version.
2. Launch the installer and “Allow” the initial compatibility check.
3. Complete the remaining steps of the installation. You may need to provide an administrator username and password multiple times.
5. Launch the client.
Granting the Required macOS Permissions
6. On first launch, the permission screen will appear. On this screen, you must grant the Strawberry client Full Disk Access and local network access. Follow the instructions in the permission screen to complete steps 1 and 2. Only perform step 3 (Allow Kernel Extensions) if your computer is running Avid Media Composer, and you plan to use it with Strawberry. If that’s not the case, you want to skip this step by clicking on the Skip (Avid Media Composer is not in use) button.
8. If you have Avid Media Composer installed and plan on using it with Strawberry, click on the Allow Kernel Extension (Requires Reboot) button.
9. In the Privacy & Security system settings, scroll down until you find the Security section.
10. Click the Allow button located below System software from Benjamin Fleischer was blocked from loading.
11. Enter the administrator password and then reboot your Mac.
Client Configuration
8. Re-launch the Strawberry Client.
9. You will be prompted to configure the client.
10. Proceed with the steps in the Client Configuration chapter.
