Important Info

Please note that changes to proxy encoder settings do not automatically apply to existing proxy files but to new proxy files only. If you’d like to apply changed settings to existing proxy files, you can re-create the proxies from the Strawberry admin panel.

Usage

1. Login to the Strawberry Admin panel.
2. Click on the Assets tab.
3. Click on the Proxy File Configuration bar to expand it.

Here you can set the proxy file properties as follows:

Enable proxy generation

When enabled, Strawberry will generate proxy files based on the settings in the Proxy File Configuration. When disabled, no proxy will be created.

Preview Proxies

Generate encrypted & unencrypted versions of preview proxies

This setting is recommended when connecting to Strawberry on-premises without HTTPS and utilizing the Strawberry Cloud Access feature.

Generate only unencrypted versions of preview proxies

This setting is recommended when connecting to Strawberry on-premises without HTTPS and without utilizing the Strawberry Cloud Access feature.

Generate only encrypted preview proxies

This setting is recommended when connecting to Strawberry on-premises only through HTTPS or when Strawberry runs in the cloud.

Downloadable Proxies

Generate downloadable preview proxies

When this setting is enabled, a dedicated downloadable preview proxy will be generated and stored for each supported source file. Please note that downloadable proxies require additional storage space.

Timecode burn-in for downloadable proxies

Strawberry creates dedicated proxy files for download purposes. Here, you can define whether these downloadable proxies should have a Timecode burned into the video.

Timecode label position for downloadable proxies

Strawberry creates dedicated preview proxies for download purposes. Here, you can define if these proxies should have the video Timecode burned in on the bottom or the top of the video frame.

Editing Proxies

Enable editing proxy workflows

When enabled, Strawberry will generate an editing proxy placeholder for each supported media file. The placeholder only contains audio and will ensure that editing proxies are generated swiftly and on demand. Please note that editing proxy placeholders requires additional storage space.

Global Proxy Settings

Proxy Resolution

Choose the resolution for proxy files created by the system. When using Same as Source, the bitrate is calculated based on the resolution but is capped at 18.000 Kbit/s to keep proxy sizes manageable for web browsers. For more information on proxy resolutions and bitrates, click here.

Image Sequence Recognition

When Strawberry detects an image sequence, it will create a preview MP4 file from it.

Image Label Burn-In

When enabled, Photoshop layer names will be burned into preview proxies. Additionally, each image of an image sequence will have its file name burned into the preview proxy.

Visual Watermark

This option is only available when Visual Watermark is enabled. Burns a custom overlay image into every Strawberry-generated proxy file.

Watermark Position

This option is only available when Visual Watermark is enabled. Specify the screen position of the visual watermark. Options are Centered, Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left and Bottom Right.

h4 Watermark Image

This option is only available when Visual Watermark is enabled. Upload a Watermark image as a .png file. The image should not be larger than your current proxy resolution and should have a transparent background. You can download example watermarks here.

Watermark Preview

This option is only available when Visual Watermark is enabled. You can preview the uploaded watermark based on your current setting.
