About

The Strawberry admin panel provides various duplication data points:

  • The percentage of files on the shared storage that have a fingerprint.
  • The space freed up during the last deduplication run.
  • The space freed up since the deduplication service has been enabled.

Usage

  1. Login to the Strawberry admin panel.
  2. Click on the Assets tab.
  3. Click on Deduplication Options accordion.

Percentage of fingerprinted files

This data point shows you what percentage of files on your Strawberry-managed shared storage have been fingerprinted. Ideally, this value is at 100% but it can be lower if Fingerprints have not yet been created for all files. This can happen when…

  • … you just got updated from a Strawberry version that did not support fingerprinting.
  • … you got updated from Strawberry a version that supported fingerprinting but the fingerprinting job was not enabled.

Either way, Strawberry version 6.4.18 and newer versions enable fingerprinting by default. Additionally, a nightly job checks for all files that don’t have a fingerprint and adds them to the Sidekiq fingerprinting queue. Fingerprinting happens regardless of whether deduplication is enabled or not. If your storage’s fingerprinting percentage is not at 100% yet, check if there is a fingerprinting job running in Sidekiq and check back after 24 hours.

The space freed up during the last deduplication run

This data point shows you how much space has been freed up during the last deduplication run and how many files have been deduplicated in it. The data point is updated only when files are deduplicated during a run. When no files have been deduplicated, e.g. over the weekend, the last run might be a few days in the past.

The space freed up since the deduplication service has been enabled

This is an accumulated data point that shows how much space has been freed up since the deduplication feature has been enabled and how many files have been deduplicated since then.
